I heard last night from someone that the NSA Super Worlds to be played this weekend in Peoria was going to have some games on TV this weekend such as ESPN. Can anyone else confirm if this is true?
The last I heard they were asking the 14u A teams to play 16u B. There were 9 teams in 16B the last time I checked. As for ESPN, I heard that a few years ago when we went. We didn't make it to Sunday then to find out..
I think it's time to put this tournament to bed.. We went to Peoria a few years ago and no West Coast teams showed up.. Ended up playing the same teams we had already seen in Schaumburg.. ?Too many things going on this time of year with school starting and with alot of girls playing volleyball. ?Its a big committment and not worth your while when the turnout is so low... ?Just let the season end with the World Series and let us keep what little money we have left for our off-season softball..
We were @ Peora to ......Big rip off!!! Forced into A and then out in 2 games and after we left rain finished Tourney and team the that beat us by 1 run was named champion without another game because their next opponate was no show and they also got a bye....it was a joke and with our team forced into A they still only had 5 teams and none from west of Mississippi!
I have to agree, the NSA SUPER WS is all about the $$$. We had the option to attend in 2003 (turned it down). It was suppose to be the top 8-12 from both the Eastern and Western NSA. It ended up being the top 8-12 teams from the Eastern NSA from Schuamberg, Ill. Teams kept turning the invitation down and NSA kept asking teams that placed lower than what was originaly needed to gain a berth.
Nothing is ever good unless certain "Elite" think it is. There were 9 teams in the 16u B's. Every team HAD placed in the top 16 of their Nationals or was their state winners. Unlike Nationals where we played another team from Ohio twice, we saw nobody we had ever seen before. We played 8 games, including a team from CA and played the NSA "B" Nationals winners twice. They defeated us once and we came back to defeat them. We had to beat a team from Canada twice to win it all. The final game was 2-1 and won on international tie breaker. (By the way - great job Lady Cats - Super National Champions Don't let anyone feel like you didn't acheive something great Sunday) As for the $, we spent FAR less than our week at Nationals or even our weekend in Buffalo, played on the best facilities we've played all year, and faced quality teams we've never seen before. Be proud of your title.
As for states represented there - 6 were from CA, 2 NV, 1 TX, 2 Canada. GA, AL, NJ, PA, OH, TN, NC, MI, WI, IN, IL, and KY. 15 states plus Canada made the trip and as many from CA as neighboring IN. I couldn't get to the results on the website listed, but did at Playnsa website.
There was not enough 14A's, so that group did not compete. All of the 16u's were true 16s that finished in the top 16 of their nationals or won their state. None of the 16's were 14u teams.
varsitysb, no disrespect to any teams or there accomplishments. This is a well deserved run in a National tourney and my ball cap is tipped to the young Ladie's of the Cleveland Wildcats! My complaint is in the way the NSA has begun to slip in the last several years-an illustrated example was the miniture tropheys for 1st place at NSA "A" states up in Boardman this year. I have seen better hardware for 3rd place at our local coachpitch tourney for 8U!!!
