October 1st Deadline

Ok its now that time of the year for the NEW: Ohio Fastpitch Player Signing October Deadline. If your team is sitting on only 10 players or less, since you can not go through a tournament season with 10 or less players. It is now time to DISSOLVE YOUR TEAM by the October 1st Deadline. Let these quality players go out and find a good team that is looking for only 1 more player. This will also stop the maddness on OFC for teams still looking for players...

Think about it, you dont have enough players to go through a tournament season, and you can't be stealing other teams players the whole season, plus you dont just want bench players to fill the spot that you dont trust to play on the field anyway... So just give up now, and throw in the towel...Your season has now ended before the season ever started...FOLD YOUR DARN TEAM.....AND HELP TO STOP THE MADDNESS

Im confused with this type of post. Not bashing the content or the original poster, but I don't get it unless this is a personal message to a certain team.

naw, just sarcasm and a lot of frustration at teams that are sitting with less than 10 players and parents who are afraid to "pull the trigger" and pull their DD off of that team and find her a new team.

I probably wouldn't dissolve a team with 9 or 10 players at this point if I were a coach. Wouldn't pull DD from a team as a parent either. Maybe so with 8 or less.

Something tells me the OP is sitting with less than 9 or 10 players. Otherwise why do you care?

Seems to me this year instead of 2 or 3 teams still looking for players this late in the game, that there is more like 15 or 20 teams....

I would really hate to see a whole bunch of teams fold in April or May and a bunch of girls miss getting onto a team. Or read all the complaints on OFC about how someones DD made every practice this year and some new player just picked up is playing every inning of every game and she was not even on the team for the practices. Then the player jumping ships will run rampant and OFC will be full of that.

You know same olds things just more extreme it will be this year.

I am going with 10 players; turned down some girls. We want to go with 10 this year. These are 10 players who are going to be there every weekend; and want to be.

Great if no one gets hurt. Lose one and you're down to 9, risky. I think it's better to go with at least 11 and play deep into Sunday so there is more then enough games for everyone to get plenty of playing time. :D

LOL! :lmao: Waaaaaay too funny! :lmao: Wildcat Pride, did you know you are part of an organization (not saying your team) that is still looking!?!?!?

Sounds like a strategy post to me...just sayin'

BUT, I definitly agree with you on the whole topic. If you're still looking for a #1 pitcher AND catcher (like posts I'm still seeing), how can you take the field in a competitive fashion...or at all?!?!?!

The classic was a post this morning "Asking If Unhappy with Fall Ball" to take a look at the coach's team...........

Says THEY are looking for FOUR Players. Sounds like this is the team that needs to hang it up!!! That team's players can't be too upset with fall ball, casue they don't have enough to play........

If you don't have enough to make a lineup at this point - Def time to call it!!!

Thats why I am going with ten; so we all get playing time. As far as girls leaving; I am really confidant that they will not; If I had not let two players go I would have same team for two years and some players (about 6) have been together for up to 5 years. I also have a player on roster incase something happens, all I need to do is give her a call and she is with us, and I usually do go deep into Sunday.

Had 10 dedicated girls last year... have the same this season (only one didn't return; great girl, but realized the travel ball wasn't for her)...
I would prefer 11, but we have seemed to roll well with the 10 we have. Wouldn't even consider folding up...

Better idea...... why don't we just continue each season through December 31. Everyone posts for new teams in January and start a new season in March!;&

Because that would mean the teams would be just like the insurance which goes Jan. 1st through Dec. 31st, and we cant do that, we got to be different

By just looking at the two local fall ball leagues for travel teams I see that there are several teams with possibly 3 strong players then 6-8 that are somewhat marginal. Everyone wants to play travel and I am a little concerned with the direction this is taking. by diluting the circut with marginal teams and then not classifying these teams it:

1. Takes talent away from ALL organizations.
2. Lessens the ratio of Quality Coaches per organization.
3. Makes talented young ladies more succeptable to quitting earlier due to the fact that they are not pushed by quality competition.

These are real problems. Maybe not for the 16 - 18 divisions which are set with young ladies with a purpose but definetly at the younger levels 12 - 14 where the girls are more impressionable and likely to lose love for the game at no fault of their own. Sometimes winning is as equally damaging as losing. You'll learn more in a hard fought loss then you will in any blowout victory.

I agree with this 100%!! My husband and I have been saying this all this past season. You run across many teams who have a couple really good players and the rest are marginal at best.
