Ohio Classics 2016 Tryouts

The Ohio Classics will be conducting open tryouts for the 2016 summer season on Thursday, August 6[SUP]th [/SUP]5-9pm, Saturday, August 8[SUP]th[/SUP] 9a-12p and Sunday August 9[SUP]th[/SUP] 1-5pm at Pickerington Central HS 300 Opportunity Way. Please contact the age group coach for exact times of their tryouts and needs of the team. List of tryouts, coaches and contacts is below.

The Classics have been fielding highly competitive teams for the past 19 years and field teams in age groups 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U, 16U and two in 18U. This year's teams experienced continued great success that included many of our teams qualifying for national tournaments. The organization has produced national champions on two occasions.

The Ohio Classics are comprised of highly skilled athletes who choose to play softball. The organization has been around for 21 years and fields many teams that compete very successfully at the national level. The organization?s goals are to put together competitive teams that attend multiple qualifiers and showcase tournaments with a focus on competing in the nationals at the conclusion of the season. An important objective of the organization is to uphold the first five letters of our name (Class) in everything we do including on and off the playing field. The teams strive to teach life?s lessons through softball, helping these girls as they grow to become excellent athletes, and more importantly, solid citizens and future leaders. The payoff for the players is substantial in terms of developing their athletic and interpersonal skills.

The Classics 18U Mix team returns a strong core from the 2015 team that Finished 37-13-2 on the season with tournament wins at the 18U ASA States, Strongsville PGF Showcase and Loudonville Invitational. The team also participated at Dayton Metro ASA/USA WSQ, Laser Nation Invitation and Stingrays. The team finished strong at the ASA/USA 18U "A" Nationals to conclude the season. We have been extremely successful at placing our players into collegiate programs and work to get our players exposure to facilitate the process. We will be made mostly of HS juniors and seniors but will have one or two first year college players. WE get great exposure with collegiate coaches so those still looking to find a collegiate home are welcome to join us for the 2015 fall and 2016 summer.

Our needs for the 2016 season include players who can excel at a high level of travel softball and desires to compete each and every game to their fullest potential.

Catcher

We return two pitchers, 2 middle infielders, and have acquired two slapper outfielders.

Our schedule for next year will be five tournaments with two weekends off. We will attend Lasers, ASA States and Stingrays for sure. Will probably play at Dayton Metro and either GAPSS or Loudonville. We will also conduct a fall schedule made up mostly of Sunday friendlies to avoid fall sorts conflicts and one fall tournament.

The Classics 10u Cassady team has a solid core returning, this team will consist of 05' and 06' birthdays. We are planning a very competitive schedule for the 2016 season, we will focus on fundamentals and getting better each and everyday! We will play in multiple friendlies and tournaments this fall, hitting indoor throughout the winter months preparing for the spring. Possible tournaments that we will compete in are as follows, Firefighters, Dayton Metro, Lasers, Stingrays, GAPPS, and a National tournament.

Our team needs for 2016 season are players who want to compete, have fun and become a great teammate.

We are a very solid team with a lot of versatility so we are looking for best players we can find. We will play lasers stingrays Asa states in summer along with other top tournaments. [Ohio Classics Sevenish]

The Classics 18U Sevenish team expects to return several players from the 2015 team that played at Compuware, 18U ASA States, ASA/USA Qualifier, Best of the Best, and Stingrays Showcase.

Eight of our current players will be playing collegiately next Spring, and several have expressed an interest in returning to play one more Summer season.

Our schedule for next year will be about five tournaments with a couple weekends off. We will likely attend Lasers, ASA States, GAPSS, Loudonville, and will pursue a Nationals event TBD. We'll start in mid-June to allow for high school commencement activities, and to allow a nice break for the first year college players. We will not be playing in Compuware or Stingrays, as several of our returning players will have already completed a year of college, thus are unable to play in those events per their tournament rules. So, if you're a 1997 or 1998 birth year, and either entering your senior year of high school as a verbal commitment or entering college as a signed recruit, and want to play next Summer, contact me.

Ohio Classics '00 - The 2000 team will hold tryouts on August 6th from 6:00-8:30 pm and then again on August 8th from 9:00-12:00. Both tryouts will be held at Pickerington Central HS. The team will continue their competitive schedule as an all 15U team, looking to play in ASA/USA qualifiers, PGF events, Showcases and Stingrays. This team currently has a 38-4 record in 2015 and will look to add at least 1-2 sound players/families to a great group of girls. As any positions will be evaluated, the team will look to add some depth at catching and/or a utility like player with speed/slapping. A note on Amanda: Amanda is a 2005 graduate of Canal Winchester High School, who went on to play for four years at Northern Kentucky University. She played summer ball for the Ohio Maddogs out of Alliance, Ohio. She predominantly played first base and pitched. Her and her parents enjoy coaching together and look forward to a great year!
