From what I've heard, ASA has changed this year so that pool play games are glorified scrimmages and seedings for the brackets are blind draws. Not really sure why but it is what it is.
hitrunscore - you said a blind draw for bracket play? who was present? do you know how it was done? i heard that ASA states in Toledo had a draw at 8 am on Friday morning, and several coaches were present to draw for themselves - the coaches who were not there had someone draw for them. just wondering - were teams seeded or was it pick a number, go to that line?

Blind draw for ASA States 16U in Massillon on Friday afternoon for bracket play beginning Saturday morning. Coach or team representative was present to draw a number. Draw a number go to that line. Probably the same as 18 States in Toledo.
I believe you are correct
thereare benefits to have the draw on friday (as they did in massilon) or earlier in this case - plan the day, etc
are there any ASA rules on when the draw is done?
please don't take my question as any judegment - I was just wodnering (with all the ASA books that were dusted off after States this past weekend)
Personally I like knowing when the games are on Saturday - you can plan if you need to nring fodds, etc.
Knowing the folks at the Classics organization and Dave there was no question of anything improper - i was just wondering why some go one way and some the other - I apoligze if the question was perceiving incorretcly
