That would be a question for the ASA State Commissioner.
My guess would be that Ohio had the two regional berths, and possible they were in the top five or fifteen for the other two or three berths?

Not sure about 2007, but if 2008 is any indicator of berths and their availability for teams from Region 9 and the State of Ohio.

Which interestingly enough is the only Region with only 1 state encompassed, so effectively any event in Region#9 with the exception of Metro Tournaments in Cleveland and Dayton would be Region #9 events, this is unique in the whole of ASA, and creates the opportunity for 7 teams from Ohio to attend Nationals, and even more if Ohio teams qualify thru Metro Cincinnati and/or Region #10.

Thanks for simpifying it for us Patty. ASA doesn't do a good job of explaining things in the code.
Another way to get a team into the 'Big Show" is thru the Hall of Fame qualifier (this will be for 12u, & 14u this year) April 19 &20. Then finish in the Top 8 at the Hall of Fame Tournament in OKC get a berth to the "Big Show". That would be some traveling.

The one thing about the Hall of Fame is that there are teams that play in it that already have a berth - and sometimes an age division can get lucky and finish 9th and still earn a berth.. Berths are passed down to teams without a berth!
