The '01 team is looking for athletes who:
1. Hit the ball. Hitters play. It's that simple.
2. Play for the name on the front, not the back. It sounds so cliche, but it is a requirement to be a team player. Nobody is above the team.
3. Play the game hard, fairly and with the utmost respect for the opposition, umpires, and coaches. Respect and sportsmanship are required.
4. Be coachable. The word "coach" is a verb as well as a noun, and our coaching staff takes great pride in the fact that we constantly teach and coach the fundamentals as well as advanced techniques of this game. We will push your daughter to play faster, better and with precision.
5. Can hustle. Speed kills. We are looking for players who hustle on every single play in every position. No team will out-hustle us next year.
We are bringing a very strong core of 8 very experienced and capable players back from last year and are only looking for the last 3 pieces of the puzzle; a solid pitcher, a speedy outfielder (left handed batter is a plus) and a middle IF. Speed is a must! Good bat is a necessity. A starting pitcher who is interested in getting a lot of circle time is also in need to add to our 2 existing starting pitchers.
We will have the solid defense and offensive support to back up that great pitcher who is looking for a solid '01 team.
Ohio Glory '01 works out at Field of Dreams Practice Facility in Lancaster during the winter and when the weather outside is nasty. Field of Dreams is the premier, 8,000 square foot facility which has all of the practice space we need to develop our team. We will practice on Sunday mornings through the fall and Winter, taking a short break around the holidays and during the OHSAA "no-touch" time. We are a team that supports the girls' desire to play for their school. I will not tell a player that she is not allowed to play for her school! These are kids, and kids should be allowed to play with their friends and for their school!
We will play 2 fall tourneys, 2 winter indoor tourneys and 8 regular tourneys next Spring/Summer and a National tournament at the end of the season. This year, we played a very tough schedule including Dayton Metro & Lasers and the NSA A World Series in Spartanburg SC where we tied for 13th. We plan on playing a similar schedule in 2015.
