A preface: This current season half of our 18u players were 16u eligible and I am being to have a 16u Regional team, so in response to this request we are creating a 16u which will practice and play with the 18u team. In some cases this team "will play up" - as this age players already face older players and team, but when appropriate we will play 16u.
Lance Steckler and I (non-parent coaches) will hosting tryouts later this month and in early August for players in the 2025, 2026, and 2027 classes for 2 of our teams (Black and Yellow). Our team and approach is geared towards getting player seen and recruited first and foremost. We are coming off a season we had players commit to IUPUI, Valparaiso, Thomas More, Northwood, Smith, Marietta, Cedarville, Glenville State, Notre Dame College, Ohio Wesleyan, Mount St. Joseph, Otterbein, John A. Logan, Hocking College, Defiance, Rose Hulman, and Baldwin Wallace. We have been blessed to great student athletes and have sent player to over 60 colleges at all levels. Our coaching staff is rounded out by past and current college players. We are based out of Middletown, Ohio but have players from all over the state and Northern Kentucky.
Lance serves on the Board of Directors for the Ohio Hawks and I serve as Vice President in charge of Regional Teams and Recruiting. We will be entering our 7th season coaching with the organization with over 30 years of coaching experience between us.
We play a full, but balanced schedule in the fall and spring/summer augmented with scrimmages, private camps, and showcases - this past year those events were with MSJ, Ashland, Hocking, TMU, Purdue Northwest, Wilmington College, Defiance, Tiffin, etc. If you have the talent, desire, and work ethic - we will get you recruited. We also have an indoor facility for winter practices and scrimmages and we end all of those practices with live hitting and pitching. We don't practice in summer because many of our players have summer jobs and we are so scattered geographically. Based on how we organized our teams, all positions are open for consideration and will be merged with a very talented core of players.
