Definately ASA for us to attend. For a park this nice they should have running water and flush toilets in the restrooms. Hold a big tourney, and those bathrooms would be unbearable!!
BIG downside...300+ fences, not good for fastpitch. Got to have batters boxes!! I just don't understand why alot of tourneys don't feel there necessary. Liked the 3 pool play into double elimination. All and all, a nice tourney. But if I was looking to continue hosting a tourney somewhere, this would not be the place. Thanks Brian and crew for your efforts.

Just to add..
If some of these things were addresed, it would be a nice place to play. It appears they are aware, and looking to make changes.

I agree , add fences , and running water to the restrooms and you have yourself a very nice park . (get rid of the dancing/singing ump PS I promise not to mention that anymore)

As Drater mentioned, we are exploring moving our summer tournament to Fryer Park for 2009. We felt this fall tournament could be a good way to "test" the facility without the pressure of 30-40 teams.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions. We always want feedback - positive and negative - after every tournament we run, as we need to know how to make things better. So if any other participants have any suggestions, please feel free to share.

Obviously, the start up issues will be addressed. We are already talking about temporary fencing and restroom issues.

Thanks to all of those who played, the competition was great.

Brian

P.S. They loved the dancing, singing umpire at our summer tournament this past June...

Congrats to the Cincy Doom 95 girls on a great championship run!!! Doug, you and your team represent talent and class at a high level.

Also OLL Coach, STAY ASA!!! If this tourney invests in temp fencing and upgraded restroom facilities with running water, then it would be a great place to hold ASA Qualifiers throughout the year.

Ok one more comment --maybe yesterday was'nt the greatest day for me to set thru a way more than "happy" ump --been sick all week and in the 1st inning he called a pitch a strike that hopped up to the catcher in the dirt, with one of our biggest sticks up and a runner on 3rd --against a team that just shut us out 1-0. I would not accentuate a call I just blew ---IMOO .

lets go a new and better direction -- how about giving props to some kids I saw this past weekend ---our own Kali Ference(sp?), 13u rays, who hit 2 homers and Heather from the 14u rays. She is a great pitcher. MD

From what I watched during the 14u games, there were a lot of talented girls out there. It will be quite a summer around Ohio in the 14u Division.

OLL coach-- you saw some of the best teams in action , obviously not all the best , but several that will be playing late on sundays next year. Was a very tough field. I can't imagine how many times the next 5 years the lasers-doom-rays will be looking at each other during the 3 or 5pm time slot on sundays. MD

Was very proud of our pitcher - #13 - not sure what was better though her hitting or pitching - great start - #13!

Was also proud of all of our new additions to the Lasers, they all played well and the kids got along great - always get better with good people around you!

Nice job by catcher - #40 - playing through a knee injury - tough kid.

As far as giving to profs to other players on teams we played - the following stood out in our games:

Hutch for the Doom - great hitter
Catcher for the 14u rays was very good
Shortstop for the 14u rays was a sweeper out there
Pitcher for the Doom was awesome with the riseball

Did not see all the teams but like MD said, great to see some very good competition out there. We played very close games vs. both Stingray teams, Doom and Buckeye Heat.

I agree on the catcher for the 14u rays, very tough. The lasers lefty leadoff was a tough out all weekend also. And as always, when # 13 is in the circle you know they ain't nothing going to be easy . kid is really a competetor. was really a fun tourney because about every game was against top flight teams. Great to hear Emily is throwing a rise :(:(

Ok I'll jump in on this. As far as the teams we faced this weekend the following stood out.

Laser's:
# 13 as usual, since I coach third got to watch the 3rd basemen up close. she played solid d all weekend even with her shoes untied 1/2 the time. This entire team gets better every time we face them. I agree with MD their leadoff hitter is one tough out, and as always that goofy catcher.

Stingrays Steel:
Catcher, the most impressive thing I noticed about her was that she appeared to be call the pitches. Lead off hitter one of the toughest outs all weekend, shortstop played great against us in the Saturday night game. This team is much improved, you will be impressed.

Marion Merchants:
Entire infield played as well as anyone else we faced this weekend in the game we faced them.

HOO Explosion:
I guarantee that this team will be one of the top 14u teams next summer.

Thanks everybody # 13 has buckled down and is seriously working at her hitting. Between volleyball (yuk) ( which has given her tendoniitis in her elbow) school starting ect. She preformed well. I am sooo impressed with the Doom's pitcher. Wow great control. Awesome riseball. It was nice we didn't see anyone throw that this past year that good!! Just a question did # 13 have a target on her for the Stingrays? Lol . Wow making my heart stop. Good job girls.

Hey MD,
Thanks for the nice comments about Kali. It was a nice tournament, just wish we would have hung around a little longer. Nice to see everyone again also.
