I bet if you daughter was a 2021 and not recruited yet or a 2022 you would be all in?
DanMaz would like to hear a reply to the post above that was solely directed towards me. The fact that I'm speechless to respond is because I'm still taking deep breaths and shaking my head. I need time to compose myself. The fact that so many responded by liking this statement, people that have expressed likes in support of my viewpoints on matters, people that I have grown to respect, has me shaking my head even more.
If your daughters truly have the talent for fastpitch softball that you believe she has, she will have a chance to play at the next level. If your daughter truly has the talent and desire to play in college, there is a chance a school will be a good match. If both of you know she is owed the opportunity to play at the next level, few coaches at any credible schools will care, especially if her GPA and test scoring doesn't fit into the slot above the cut-off line. Softball at any level is not self-sustaining monetarily. Therefore, it is nonessential. At all levels, it is about the money.
I get you are marketing your daughter. You believe it to be an important factor in her immediate future. People in outdoor sports have champion to get the powers in administration to understand the lesser risk of outdoor activity. The problem stems from grouping such as team travel, dugout situations, and the ever present team bonding and socializing. While you don't believe the risks are real, it only takes 1 to infect others. While it may not be a death sentence to you or your child, it may be to your immediate family member, your best friend, your coaching staff, or some poor innocent soul that just happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Ask yourself; Is it worth putting somebody else's life in jeopardy so you and your daughter can experience a game?
Nobody ever said the world will not return to some normalcy once we get a handle on the virus. If it doesn't, you are the first to see the new normal and need to accept it. This situation is not isolated to our country. The entire world is reacting to the virus due to its known nature. We're still learning some of the unknowns. This didn't occur because of our leaders in this country. We are reacting to favor the majority of the population of the country and the world.
With all due respect, the softball world is not that large..................
I'll shut up now.
