OSU-Mich Game Tonight

Didn't see that play at home. Had a game last night and didn't get home until late.

From the descriptions here, it sounds like it was handled right. The basic "default" mechanic, when the runner misses the plate and the catcher misses the tag is to first wait a moment to see if the runner is going to try to touch the plate. If she doesn't, and the defense isn't appealing the miss, then the umpire is to signal safe.

However, if the runner is immediately trying to scramble back to re-touch home, it would be appropriate to make no signal right away. Treat it as the continuation of the initial play, then rule safe or out depending if the runner gets back in time is is tagged first.
