I grew up with her. She's a tuff cookie. In this case I think she would drive Scooter to the church. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I was going to say... it would probably be doing her a favor, but I knew you'd be along any day now to rub it in. :D

I just sit there reading my paperwork or play with the cell phone til she (pitching coach) ask me to catch the dd during a drill or two. She gets paid the big bucks so I say nothing!
Im just glad her dog hasnt bit me yet!!!! :D

Let me explain:

I became serene to deal with all of the politics youth ball.

It helped me deal with all of the overboard parents.

You know the parents of the 11u girls with 9 pitches that are all wicked.

The parent of the 9 year old who will certainly be the starting shortstop for the varsity.

The 12U with a faster time to first than Watley. Honest, I held the stopwatch!

The coaches with that "special" radar gun. The one that you need to add three miles to (because it is slow), and then another two because you are pitching inside

The parents of the girl who was an OK pitcher on a great team, who later wonders why dd is getting crushed when the tables are finally even.

The coach who stacks their 12u team in the name of progress, or because Cindy needs to ride with Ginger.

The coach who puts his stacked team in the same league with the "unwashed" only to wonder later why the girls he picked stagnated and the others (who had to fight) went on to play in college.

I became serene to deal with the bs because it was better for me that the alternative.

Oh, also, it isn't "Enya CD in the background, in a dim candle-lit room, sipping Chamomile tea and eating butter cookies on a fancy doyly."
More like Neil Young or Bruce in the background, a beer, maybe sipping a Dewars and eating chips off of my tee shirt! (Now how is that for a picture!)

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Awesome...and I don't blame you one bit! Beer and chips minus Neil and Bruce....heck, marry me!

Did you have that Frank Costanza moment early in youth sports....hands in the air, looking up in the sky shouting "Serenity Now!!!"

At a lesson I catch my dd and when asked they what I saw, I will tell the PC and my dd what I tried to catch. Typically the questions are about movement and spin at the receiving end. She throws way to fast with to much movement to see much of anything of mechanics that is meaningful without getting killed.

So at her lessons I catch and return the ball and speak when spoken to.

Does 1:00 work for you? Do you play at 3:00?

I will talk just not when I'm catching and certainly not when I catch your DD!

I catch the last half of an hour lesson so the PC can watch my DD from the side and behind. The PC also makes corrections right next to her so she can fully understand and see the mechanics of each pitch. My role is to **** up as much info as possible so I can be her coach during practice sessions.

Drive, shut up (she is concentrating on the handheld texting device), sit down, shut up, catch the ball, shut up, throw it back, shut up, pay the bill, shut up, drive home, shut up (she is recapping what happened today again on the handheld texting device). And do all that without embarrassing the dd, or allowing anybody to know that we are related.

I know we're being tongue-in-cheek about that, but I sort of had that impression with my 15yo.

This subject came up at our house a couple weeks ago. I mentioned that I might just drop her off at her game and pick her up after (particularly chore-filled day). When she asked why, I said that I figured she'd probably rather hang with her teammates and not have me there to embarrass her. She got a stunned look on her face and said "Dad, I love it when you are there to watch".

Yeah just as long as you only watch and don't say anything. One more thing, after the game just go get the car and pick her up out front....we wouldn't want anyone seeing us walk out together!! Lol
