I've coached a kid who has a parent like the one this thread is about, it could actually be the same one. It all sounds very similar, and I don't think your tactics would work so well with a guy like him. You can't understand what this is unless you have experienced it, it's a different animal.
Oh, trust me, I've experienced some interesting parents, they exist in all sports. That's why I like to keep busy at practices/games. I just feel bad for the good kids (nice, kind, sweet ones) that are talented, but have difficult parents, that kid has a rough road. It's just a bad situation; I try to keep calm, think of the kids, avoid and try to be a positive role model in their kids life...and that isn't easy!
However, I do feel like there are parents, in every sport, that treat their child's team as the parent's social life/circle. And it's shouldn't be like that either. So there are really different types are "problem" parents, the complainers, the gossips and I'm sure a few other categories.
