I've been officially catagorized as a Pitchers Mom. Ahhhhhhh. At least it took a while, my dd is 16 & always pitched. How to deal? Funny thing, I am a counselor by trade! Maybe I need to start a support group:D

LOL. Well you've taken the first step by acknowledging that there is a problem. :cap:

Being the mother of a pitcher and a "pitcher's mom" are two different animals.

A mother of a pitcher shows up to watch her daughter play, offers encouragement for the entire team, and leads a normal life.

A Pitcher's Mom sits behind the backstop, over-analyzes everything her daughter does, yells out instructions to her daughter during a game, chews her nails to the flesh, lives and dies with every pitch, and calls an opposing batter's double to the gap an error on the left fielder...

Hopefully, you were mis-categorized!

LOL great post, Lou! Changeupmom ... if you start that support group, I guess the goal should be to turn pitcher's moms into mothers of pitchers!

OK new suport group catagories.

Mother of Pitcher Group
Pitcher Dad/Anger Managment Group. I can post my 4 anger rules at all games. Dont hit, Dont threaten, Dont embarass others(name call) and Dont break, throw stuff!!!

And yes I hope I have been mis categorized, or if not they should take my counseling license!

Guess I fall somewhere between:
I missed the first 2 tournaments this summer to travel elsewhere for adult only fun
I still keep her stats but only for her personal reference and reflection
I cheer for all the girls and lead team building experiences on request

I'm the mother of a pitcher and a coach so I can't put my chair in the outfield...although I'd love to!!!

what are the team building experiences you lead? Ones that are successful.

Activities that help girls get to know each other and work together at something other than softball, set team goals related to achieving success, individual performance and mental work discussions. All in the spirit of having fun, learning that being a team doesn't mean being friends off the field but it certainly does require being able to work together.

If a pitcher's mom sits near the outfield fence, she must refrain from throwing her empty beer cans into the field of play.

Unfortunately. my wife doesn't drink beer, but when dd is pitching, she needs something like that.
