My daughter needs help finding the strike zone. 10U can pitch 46mph but can't find the strike zone on game day. Please let me know if anyone in NWPA is available for weekday lessons.

I would reach out to bill hillhouse. I think he is in Erie PA now. Google should turn up his contact info. Know he is heading to Europe tomorrow so might be tough to get a hold of for a little while.

Hillhouse is a great place to start - depending on how North you are.
Go to http://www.houseofpitching.com/ for contact information.

Bill will build a great base -my daughter went to him for several years (from around 9 til 12 years old) untill the facility he used in Pittsburgh closed.

Thanks. I reached out to him via his website, especially as we are both from Erie.

I highly recommend Hillhouse as well ... he was exactly what my daughter needed to take her to the next level when she was coming up through the ranks. If you live right their in Erie, that's a huge plus!

Bill doesn't have a facility in Erie to work out of, so if you are able to secure a place, you might be able to work something out. As of right now, he gives lessons in Alliance, OH near Canton, and I believe he may still be doing some in the Pittsburgh area. If you can work it out, he's fantastic. Can't say enough good things about him. Be patient because he will likely take a little while to get back to you. He doesn't respond to much when he's visiting his son.

If your close to him (As you said your in Erie) he has access to fields so you may be able to work with him when the weather is decent if you dont have access to a facility-
He no longer comes down to Pittsburgh (couldnt find a facility that made sense for him)

If you can work something out he is great - Be prepared for the long haul, he is slow and methodical. He will want her to perfect the fastball before he moves on. Dont expect him to teach her 4 or 5 pitches (maybe 3 by the time she starts HS) but she will do them all correctly.

Interesting. Not the approach he took with my daughter at all. In fact, she never learned a "fastball". Her "fastball" is her drop and he taught her the change up shortly after she showed some proficiency with her drop. She had her drop, change, and "cutter" within the first year and had begun to work on the spin for the rise in her 2nd year. Either way, he doesn't believe you need "all the pitches". He believes you can live on 3 pitches.

I know he's not a fan of the fastball for sure ... but is a fan of pitches that change planes. He's definitely not one of those coaches who will show/try a new pitch every week. He believes in mastering one before moving on to the next and, as Crystle says, that you don't need 5-6 pitches. He loves the rise ball, though my daughter never did master that one ... but she did get by with just 3 pitches all the way through college, and had 44 wins to show for it. :)

You are correct - the Fastball is a drop ball, it became so ingrained that a pitch had to change planes that I didnt even think of it when I typed that. it was the "fastball" because it was faster than the other pitches.

My guess is your daughter picked up the mechanics quickly and was able to move on at a faster rate than mine.

Mine had to over come some bad teaching she had gotten earlier before she was able to proceed.

But it was definitely worth the time.

I agree Hillhouse is the way to go, but if he is in Europe and/or not available, are there any other suggestions?

He travels to Europe once every few months to visit his young son. He will be home within, likely, a week or so. Be patient. He will get back to you. If you don't hear from him by next Friday, let me know. I'll give him a call and have him get in touch with you.

Thanks Crystlemc. I will let you know if I don't hear from him. I'm watching his videos on YouTube to get some pointers on the meantime.
