Player leaves team in middle of season!

If you have a player on your team and for personal reasons the parents pull the player off of your team what do you expect of the parents?

First and foremost it?s a huge loss to the team because now they are down a player and they have to find a new player. I completely understand that because I helped coach travel ball for 2 years. Second I would contact the parents of the player and see if there was anyway I could help. Now if the parents tell the coach that it has nothing to do with you or the team, but more of a discipline reason of the player, they should never question the parents for how they wish to parent, correct? I understand when you have a kid commit to a team to play it is a commitment, but at the same time we are talking about softball.
The question I ask is what is more important teaching your kid/player life lessons (the kid is agrees to fulfill these requirements or if they will be pulled from the team) or allowing them to play softball when they did not fulfill their responsibilities that they were asked to do. As a responsible parent that is trying to teach there kid responsibilities and discipline this is a bigger priority then playing softball. As a parent/coach, softball is the least of my concern. It is a privilege to play travel ball, it has nothing to do with the commitment at all. Some things in life are not easy and that is life.
So with that said, do you as a coach expect the parents to return the helmet, jersey, pants, belt, and socks, after they have worn these items numerous times? The parents have also paid a third of the portion of their fees and participated in the fundraisers and have not even completed a third of the season. Now lets say the parents have paid their fees entirely and the player leaves at the same time. Do you as the coach of the team reimburse the player some of there fees?
