Today at the buckeye showdown, we were playing a very talented team in the Marion Diamonds. We were very fortunate to win against such a great team. After the game my dd notice the shortstop very upset because she didn't think she played that well. My dd went to the player and told her we all have those type of games and told her how good of a ball player she is. Next thing you know, they hug and go their seperate ways. This is what this game is all about. I am so proud of my dd for showing the class and compasion for a fellow athlete.

Great story! I wish there were more of that kind of sportsmanship. You should be proud of your daughter!

I want to thank all that have responded to my post. I am truly blessed as a father to have such a wonderful young woman like this. My daughter told me the name of the young lady and it escapes me, but she is on the 16u team that much I know.

We played at Buckeye Showdown over the weekend- a team we played didn't have chain straps(quarter finals) so we let them borrow ours because the umpires said they would not play on "his" field. I love reading about good sportsmanship! (I don't know how they got that far with no chain straps- it was even in the packet)

DGROCKS- you have a wonderful daughter! Let her know that that kind of kindness is always rewarding.

I was the coach that was talking to the SS (my team) after the game. She really did have a bad game and that was a moment where I needed to be there for her. I think the girl that came up to the SS waited probably a good five minutes as we were talking not to interupt us. It was a very classy move by the young lady and you should be proud of her. I wish everyone could demonstate that type of sportmanship. Thank you again for helping me lift her up.

Coach, Thanks for the compliment and my wife and I are very proud of her. I do hope they get a chance to meet again. My daughter plays center for the KAOS 16u and would love the opportunity to talk with this young lady again.

What an outstanding act of compassion! One of my parents told me about this post tonight and I just couldn't resist making my own comment. Although I do not know the player; I can only commend her for taking the time to notice the need of her opponent. You have gained a friend for life and taught many how to win with dignity and more important; compassion!
