If this was a 16U boys team would the responses be the same?.........;&

Not saying this makes sense. But then again not sure if it is horrible. I can not see the logic on game day. But if teams down South do this after every game then there must be some type of benefit. But I suspect these teams run a ton during practice also.

I have never understood using running as a punishment. The more you run the better you get. What a couch should do is not let the players that err "GET" to run. After a few weeks they will start to fall behind.....just a little experiment that I have always wanted to see played out.

Someone who uses the fear of punishment as a motivational tool is not a coach, he is a bully.

sat. and sundays are game days. conditioning needs to be done through the week. if a coach needs to run their team for motivation at the tb level something is wrong.

LOL

One thing I never understood is how these coaches can absolve themselves of any responsibility for a loss. I'm sure they take some credit for wins. She should have been out running with them. ha

I wondered if the coach asked a few simple questions of herself if it was moral, ethical, or legal for her to push this punishment. So, watching this, I asked my dd what is the "golden rule", and how do you treat people who are subordinate to you? She responded the "golden rule" is who ever has the gold makes the rules. 8/ Geez.

You know, these tournaments on Sundays don't give us enough time to go to church... 8)

just so that I wasn't misunderstood, I don't agree with "punishment" sprints, but can see the benefit of sprints after games. I'll also add, what does more damage, Punishment sprints or some of the harsh negativity & insults that I hear many coaches spew? Not judging, I've been guilty and have learned many lessons, but think its a good discussion.

I agree Shockwave, abusive coaches and their methods do far more harm than good. The girls that were running were not little things either. They looked a bit more pleasantly plump than me, and I prefer trucks to fit in. I was especially worried when I saw them doubling over from the heat; the coaches lack of concern was disturbing.

Makes you want to burn Atlanta, ya know. 8)
