Tom ... thanks again for being on. I learned a lot about what you're doing, and think it's fantastic! I am going to try to come and see the team sometime here this spring.

Just wanted to see if you ever need someone to fill in some time, I would be willing to talk about my travels to the Dominican Republic and working there with some softball teams that we have started. I have made 19 trips to the DR and put on baseball clinics for over 20,000 boys, some of whom are now playing professionally and making millions of dollars. In the last 3 years, we have started promoting softball to the girls there and have had college players go with us to help out in our clinics with the girls. A year ago, we took a set of new shirts for a girls team there and for 3 of the girls, it was the first new shirt they ever had worn (always hand-me-down clothes.) Over the years, we have taken well over 1000 pounds of equipment with us to donate to teams all over the country. We have formed lasting relationships with some of the pro and former pro players that have come to our clinics. We have built a 5-star facility there (by DR standards) to stay at while putting on clinics and offering a message of salvation to the many DR towns we go to during our stays.
These trips have been a unique experience both sports wise and culturally and have spoke at multiple venues about the many lives we have impacted. We also have doctors, dentists, nurses, eye doctors, and former U.S. pro players go with us and are looking to expand the softball program to other localities in coming trips.

Tim ... thanks for the note ... sounds really interesting. By coincidence, I sometimes work right across the street from where I believe I saw your team practicing a couple of days ago. I may stop over or give you a call.

Thanks!

Jeff Baker

P.S. You might lose a little bit of credibility with that screen name these days! :)

I originally used his name in jest and now I use him as a prime example of how to waste away your life and talents and become the topic of jokes and criticism. For a guy that was paid $7.6 million over 2years, he has very little to show for it and prolly will not even play this coming season.
