RAW is a great facility and it was nice event. However, (I know this is the case in many tournaments) there was at one umpire who not only made some blatantly bad calls but clearly didn't even know the rules that were being used at this facility.

The only bad calls that I will charge them with are balls and strikes, some were atrocious. I have a hard time with giving them crap for out or safe calls at the bases when they are alone. They try to get in the best position possible to make the right call. We had calls help us and hurt us but you have to accept it if you're gonna play indoors.

As with the case with any new facility that has new rules their will be mistakes, and I'm sure they made some as does any umpire that is put in this situation.
I will tell you we have had a ton of compliments on the umpires, and the facility. As is our goal with everything we do we will continue to get better, at everything.
Thanks for coming and we all appreciate you and your feed back
Thank You
Warren

Wow... I don't see what there is to really complain about as far as the facility goes.. IF you want to nit pick then ok but you can do that about EVERY facility in the country.. There's always something that could use improvement but for RAW I think they did an outstanding job with that place.

Right over here!
As far as facility its indoor and its probably one of the better ones. But all indoor is horrible.

Sports science did a show on being a UMP. It was very well done. They put the host of the show in the position, as best they could, to simulate the pressure behind the plate. Even in a controlled environment that test subject could only get balls/strikes right 75% of the time. I think as a player/coach you have to do everything you can to take the ump out of the game. I am not advocating on a ump running amuck, but how many times do you hear complaints about balls/strikes at the field? Teach the kids to adjust to the zone and take away the excuse. Just a thought. I am not saying a bad zone is ok, just not worth arguing about.

Rules- there is always some nuances between sanctions/facility. Unless it cost a game for someone?

Being an umpire, consistency is the biggest issue with most umps. I tell my players that strikes are: arm pits to the hollow of the knee, one ball inside and one ball outside. If they can hit those, that will cover most umpire's strike zones. Anything outside of that are usually unhittable balls and just taking the bat out of the players hands and they are just trying to get the game over.
