Re-insert Pitcher?

I was told that a starting pitcher, can be removed, and re-inserted. But any subsequent pitchers cannot be reinserted if they are removed? I have not heard that before and it really makes no sense to me.

So I looked in the 2013 ASA rule book. I cannot find anything about this. The only comment I can find is in the ASA Rules Supplement in the back, 40.G; Pitcher returning to pitch. This seems to indicate you can re-insert as often as you want as long as not left the batting order or left by rule (over charged conference limit).

So is what I was told completely false or is there something I am missing?

Rule 6, Section 9, EFFECT - "...There is no limitation as to the number of times a player can return to the pitching position as long as the player is legally in the game." So, what you were told was false.
