What are your thoughts on all the recruiting services/websites out there? Are these sites useful or just another way to make money? If legit, anyone have any positive help from a certain site? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Well I personally do not recommend them to our Outlaw girls, because we will help them with the process, and here are some of the things we do.

*We give them a mini recruiting seminar starting at 14U and will be moving to 13U with the early recruiting. With this they will also get a handout that will give them everything they need to do to succeed

*Play the right schedule and get them on the right fields.

*Reach out to our vast network of college coaches to see what they need .

*Call college coaches and let them know that our player is coming to there camp so they can keep an eye on them. Just going to camps isnot enough they need to know your coming other wise very difficult to just stick out.

*Follow up with college coach after camp to get some feed back

These are just some of the things we do. Now here are some of the things your daughter needs to do

*Play for a team that plays the right Showcase schedule that fit's her needs. ( Just playing in big events down south or out east on the wrong fields will not do you as much good as playing at a event in the Midwest that has all the teams at 1 or 2 facilities in my opinion)

*Make sure that team will showcase her ability and is willing to work for her.

*Email coaches AT LEAST 15- 20 on a regular basis.

*Get a profile and attach to every email to the coach.

*Make a recruiting video that shows here in her best light. Start the video with what she does best you have 30 seconds to grab the coaches attention, and yes attach to every email to the coach (I recommend a YouTube link)

*Go to the RIGHT CAMPS, and make sure you reach out to them before you attend. DO NOT GO IN BLIND !!

Now these are just some of the things you can do and not every coach or organization is able or willing to do these things, and for those kids there are some inexpensive ways to get help, but don't be suckered into spending thousands of dollars on recruiting companies, because you don't have to.

Here are some fairly in expensive ways to get your daughters information out there.

*Real Time Athletes
*OnDeck
*CaptainU

I know there is so much more to this whole process, but I hope this helps, and if you have any questions you can always call me Warren 216-704-9908

I am personal friends with a D1 coach and I recently asked this same question. This coach says "Don't bother" and if anything it's a turn off. Go to camps and Showcases. Send informal emails and send quick videos. Several D2 coaches that I have met say that they have NEVER recruited from one of these websites.

Great advice above, also, be careful don't get lost in the shuffle, play for a squad/coach/organization who has an established network that will help greatly in your pursuit of exposure. Don't buy into everything you hear, do some research on your own, reach out to the schools your interested in and seek their feedback and advice via phone calls/contacts. Also, be careful not to play for a team/organization where you can easily get lost in the shuffle. There are some organizations that have multiple teams per age group, and they field teams to just field teams. Remember when the players who don't belong at elite events/tournaments struggle, that can be a reflection on your child as well who's on the same team. Too many kids/too many teams its easy to get lost in the deck. Look at past results and future tournaments for teams that line up with your objectives. Lasers seem to have figured this out in Ohio, I've never really seen bad lasers teams, they are all usually very high in quality. There are a few others as well also in Ohio here that have figured this out. Quality in a organization typically beats quantity.

Direct Question for WWolff.
How about setting up a website dedicated to your daughter's accomplishments on and off the field? Possibly containing video of on-field play, maybe transcripts of grades, video testimonials from coaches, teachers, neighbors, pastors/priests, etc.. Stats, hobby lists, and a general description of child and their accomplishments through life. You could just shoot the link to perspective college coaches. Would be a lot easier for them than even popping a dvd into a DVD player. Hosting a website is getting cheaper and cheaper these days. Do you think college coaches would think of this as 'overboard' or maybe even think the parent is a 'nut' to deal with, if they'd go through the trouble to do this? Asking you because your post in this forum was solid, and would like your opinion on this since you seem to know the deal on this. Anyone else can respond, always looking for helpful insight. Thank you in advance!

Most people post their video on YouTube and include that link in their email. Title the video with name, "skills video", HS grad year and position(s).

Maybe a little... More important would be what's on the page and what kind of impression it gives - same as on a recruiting service page. Here is the only player web site I know about - Tamara "T" Statman Class of 2015.

I agree with SoCal_Dad very good stuff.

The only other thing I have seen done and would cover a lot of the stuff you are talking about would be a Facebook page dedicated the the young ladies recruiting.
