League description we rolled out this week that a parent board member wrote. The last one says it all....

T-Ball ? ? ? ? ? ?Ages 4-5 ?/ 45 minute games / Bats off tee / Introductory league to teach the very basics of fast-pitch softball / No umpires / no score / everybody bats every inning / Emphasis on learning and having fun ?/ Dandelion-picking and dirt mounds unavoidable

There is nothing better for the sole than walking to another field and seeing softball t-baller's swing a bat, let go of it, see people scramble and then run to third base.
While organizing rec fastpitch and DD playing travelball, I would watch some innings by myself, just to clear my head from the next level hogwash.
Flat gloves, $20 bats, kids smiling, 50 parents yelling, (1 parent yelling take her out if she gets in your way) and ice cream. Those were the days!

Comedian Bill Engvall has a great bit about T-Ball.
You can tell he was a coach. One of his lines was when half the team is crying and the other has wet their pants game over time for ice cream.
My personal experience with it was the boys whined more than the girls.

Newfound Pride,
AMEN!!! I had to quit coaching boys because I couldn't keep up with the whiny boys or their whiny parents. Why do you suppose the fastpitch players AND their parents make this game so much better to coach than youth boys baseball? I coach a 16U travel team and still have dirtmounts and ice cream (they have to win to get ice cream).

I found one of my DD old t-ball videos the other night and sat down for a good laugh. I was amazed at how good most of there swings looked and how they hustled on and off the fields.
Just seeing how some of the girls have grown up and become great little ball players, who would have known.

And the most important thing....Who bought the snack for after the game and what is it?

Our biggest problem, the powers that be decided to put the T-Ball field on city airport property. Whenever the LifeFlight helicopter was coming in for a landing you had to call timeout and wait for it to land. After it landed the game could resume.
I had a former ballplayer really make me feel old. I coached this girl back in the day of slow pitch (Yech), this past fall this young lady comes up to me and introduces herself that she used to play ball for me, the worst part was her oldest dd is now playing soccer with my youngest dd. Reality checks stink.
