Pitching and Pitchers Discussion Rest for pitchers

I think this thread should be tied into the overuse thread. This is my dd's second year pitching. I coached her last year at 9U, and when done with the travel season, she averaged 24 pitches an inning , and she was the least one out of the 3 pitchers I used. Was she out of her league that year, yes, but it was worth it.

I forced her to take some time off for rest. This is her second year, and is pitching better. I love that fact her coaches have a rotation going on so there is no overuse. The goal this year is to reduce to around 16-18 pitches an inning and further reduction by next year. We are also video taping every couple of months and watch the good with the bad to help with the reduction. I'm also trying to reduce her home practices while getting more speed/rotation and leg drive.

Thanks for telling me that Monday was considered the day of rest. That will help getting her summer schedule figured.
