Rio Grande---The University of Rio Grande softball program is expanding its high school winter indoor softball league this year.
The league will run from November 7-28, 2010 and January 9-30, 2011. The games will be played on Sunday afternoons.
The focus of the league is offer any softball player the opportunity to further develop their skills and in a competitive program.
All games will be either seven innings or 1 hour, 15 minutes whichever comes first. All players will be in the batting order unless a player elects not to hit and all hitters will begin with a 1-1 count.
Ohio High School rules will be followed with the exception of unlimited re-entry for defense.
The teams will be coached by members of the Rio Grande softball team. Teams will consist of 10 players with eight on defense.
Players will be issued a T-shirt, but must provide the remainder of their uniform.
The cost is $70 per player and checks are payable to University of Rio Grande softball. Team registration is $650.
Deadline to sign up is October 31, 2010. Space is limited to the first 100 players.
