Roster #'s too many or not enough?

This year we took 14 on our roster at 18 & Under, and it worked out ok. Our 14th was a pitcher that only pitched, didn't play the field or bat. (Didn't want to thus we took her as the 14th)

This year we may have 3 pitchers. 2 of them aren't strong hitters and need a lot of work and can't really bring much to the field on defense.

Is 15 too many, or 14? I have 3 girls coming back that are in college and I worry they might be burned out by then. I also have 4 or 5 seniors that will have graduation parties and other things etc.. going on.

I hate for kids to sit, but at the same time, I hate trying to find players last minute to fill in or when they miss.

Maybe I need to be more forceful or strict on missing, but I realize these kids have a lot of things going on. Through the course of the year with injuries, vacations, graduation parties, scholarship banquets. We used close to 19/20 players over the course of the season.

I also like the aspect of depth and also competition for positions. Also typically on Fridays and Saturday's the younger kids not committed to colleges tend to play more on these days.

Also, our team typically plays deep into the day on Sunday. Last year between two back to back weekends, we played 18/19 games in those two weekends combined. Injuries and fatigue added up also so it was nice to have some fresh players there.

Feedback is appreciated.
