Rule on fundraising for school team?

Does anyone know if the school team can do their own fundraising or is there a rule that it must be done by a booster organization?

Generally it is done by a booster organization simply because they are normally a 501(c).3. Most school districts also have rules in place that limit fund raising activities using the school name or affiliation to specific groups; i.e. athletic boosters, PTA, etc. Outside of that just make sure you don't run afoul of the IRS....
