Schedules?

With the summer season almost upon us, I was wondering how everyones schedule worked out?

It seems every August so many teams post their "pie in the sky" schedule, and by the time June rolls aroundthe schedule doesn't quite measure up. Certainly some quality events fill up, but, I must believe some teams out there are guilty of promising a schedule they can't, or don't know how to deliver.

My other question is, I see many teams out there claiming they play a "competitive ASA Schedule", lets face it while it is nice teams are playing ASA, planning on ASA B Nationals and playing a schedule of EASTERN National Qualifiers second rate tournaments is NOT "COMPETITIVE".

So share with us, Where are you playing this Summer?

Per Ohio ASA rule, Buckeye Heat 95 is not allowed to play the Dayton Metro, Region 9 Closed, ASA States, or Strongsville ASA/USA qualifiers this year because of the existing berth to ASA/USAs. With that background, we are playing the following:

1. Region 9 Open National ASA/USA Qualifier at Shreve
2. Lasers By Invitation in Columbus
3. Side pool in Findlay during ASA States, spear-headed by Buckeye Heat 95 but made possible by the great TD for ASA States (three high quality teams have committed and we would expect berth winners from Dayton Metro, Shreve [assuming that winner is an Ohio team], and Region 9 Closed to also participate)
4. Best of the Best at Masillion
5. Stingrays in Columbus
6. GAPSS in Columbus
7. Midwest All Sanctions in Columbus (playing up at 18u)
8. ASA/USA in Montgomery, AL

We would have liked to play Orland Park Sparks, but the time and expenses in going out of state before heading down to Alabama were just too much (assuming that we would have even been accepted).

The last year my daughter played travel ball with an Ohio team was 2005, would you like that schedule?

Teams should play tournaments that are in there competitive ''class''. If you have an outstanding team full of college prospects, see Buckeye Heat '95 schedule above. If you are a fairly local organization or good community travel, play ENQ's and sprinkle some of the tougher tournaments in to set the bar higher. If your a first year org from a couple schools or 1, play where you can compete. But my rule of thumb is, worry about us and we'll let you worry about you. If you dont like the schedule, go play where you do. The key for any organization when talking scheduling after tryouts is to be honest with yourself and your parents.

I suppose I have to ask why you care if you don't play around here anymore? 2005? I don't think I'll be hanging out here cracking on what is or is not competitive seven years after my kid is done.

Kavin, I am so jealous that you are going to OK City for Hall of Fame. That one is on my personal bucket list. Combined with the Orrville tourney, your team will have great fun on what is also a very competitive schedule.

I am guessing that the purpose of this thread was to point out that some teams promise a lot more during tryouts than they can actually deliver, so buyer beware. With that being said, most of the teams who have responded here have outstanding and competitive schedules.

It's amazing how many more teams in Ohio play a very good schedule now than just 5-6 years ago. I don't know that any purely Ohio teams play that type of schedule XStatic mentioned, but the improvement is still drastic.

The 18 U nightmare gold are playing a pretty tough schedule and they are all Ohio girls! Including Boulder, blooming asa gold, maybe not to xstatics schedule but pretty tough!

Have you already qualified for Montgomery or are you assuming that you will win the Shreve bid?
