Serious Injury Springboro @ Brookeville Jr high

There have been many post about game faces. I have chosen not to add on. Instead speak of a serious injury that i saw first hand. I was coaching First Base when our third batter hit a line drive back at the pitcher hitting her in the right eye. The scream i heard will be everlasting. My best guess the ball was traveling close to 100mph giveing no chance to react at all. This girl was not wearing a gameface. She hit the ground instantly. Boros head coach happens to be a Dr. specializing in surgery and did a wonderfull job of stableizing her and preparing the emergency room for he arrival. We have not heard any updates as of now. If their is anyone out there in the Brookeville area please keep us posted through this thread. This young lady is in our prayers. We wish her a very speedy recovery.

I was at the first game of the double header as I know the Brookville third baseman, catcher, and first game pitcher very well.

The young lady is in surgery and is in need of some prayers as it looks to be a pretty bad break of the bones surrounding her eye socket.

I don't want to get into details, but please keep her in your thoughts.

Please keep her in your prayers all night as this will be a very long evening for her, family, coaching staff, and Springboros girls and family aswell.

Our thoughts are with the young lady and her parents as well as all the players and parents - I've seen something slightly similar and it's very scary.

Surgery last night went well. It took longer than expected because there was more damage than they thought. They anticipate a full recovery with no scarring and no problems with her vision. She may be released from the hospital today. I am headed to the hospital now, and will update her condition this afternoon. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Thanks to the entire Springboro organization for their heartfelt concerns. Their Coaches, parents and players have expressed their deepest concerns during this terrible accident and that is very much appreciated. I will keep everyone updated.

I just talked to Jamie's dad and he said that surgery went well and that he was getting ready to pick her and mom up at the hospital. She is in good spirits and can't wait to get home. Jamie is a tough kid and she will get through this. Mike said the family wants to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

Hook THANK YOU SO MUCH for the update. I havent slept a wink. The longer that surgery went the more questionable the vision was. And thank you for the kind words.
