?All Pool Games are 1:15 Drop Dead Flip at Gate for Home Team
I called and asked about the spot Monday but never committed and I called back Tuesday and said we couldn't make it. They show us in the 19 spot. I hope they have found another team and PLEASE don't think we bailed. We never even knew about this tournament until Monday. - I wish we did though, the competition looks awesome.
was our first time at the spano dome, was a real nice facility and the people running the showcase were real nice. only problem was i think they need to do something about the lighting, was hard to pick up the ball and just needed a few flourecent lights
There seemed to be a lot of schools in attendance. Akron, Kent St., Cleveland St., Dayton, Walsh, Malone, Theil, Washington & Jefferson, Dennison, Wooster were some of the schools spotted and I know there were several others.
John Carroll, Case Western Reserve, Lake Erie College, and Mount Union were also in attendance. A few others were there, but I couldn't read their shirts from the third base coaches box.
I thought it was a pretty decent showing of colleges. Not overwhelming by any stretch, but pretty decent.
Other than the crazy rules - if you look at the weekend as an opportunty to showcase your talents to colleges, you couldn't go wrong. ?There were several colleges in attendance that were not mentioned on this board. ?Although you can't really determine a "true" winner when playing in the Spano Dome, does anyone have any game results? ?Who made it to the end? ?
There were more schools there than I'd realized - and truly the Showcase was just that - an opportunity to show a bit of what you have in a fan-friendly environment (indoors). This is also a good opportunity for players to NOT SEE they're being watched so they can play the game in "their backyard".
Folks who felt cheated by a low number of colleges may be happily surprised when the mail runs and the phone rings.
i think there were a good numbers of schools that attended. but how do you think these girls DID NOT SEE them? they were sitting in the chairs marked for college coach's, they were standing upstairs where the players warm up and they were down on field 2 sitting in the bleachers and standing against the fence in the outfield. I guarantee the girls saw them. I was actually very pleased with the # and the talent was definately there that weekend.
MY DD did know colleges were attending, but didn't really seek out who they were and what games they were watching. Again, a low-pressure situation for her.. She was comfortable and at the end of the weekend she felt good about how she'd played and was proud her field presence was up to par.
As her mother, I KNEW who was at which game and felt nervous for ALL the players! ;D
One of the things I've tried to get my DD to understand over the years is showing "anger" at umpires and/or teammates is a very negative image and there is a way to express the emotion, but hollering, pouting, crying, etc. isn't a very productive way to do it. We started calling it "field presence" .. some call it game face. It's more or less a buzzword I throw at her.
