Quick question. We played a team that was ahead by 7 runs in the 6th. They intentionally stayed in the field after we batted in the top, and skipped their turn at bat so we would bat in the 7th. They wanted to get the game over sooner because it was getting late and we had a second game to play (whuch we still didn't get in, it was too dark after the 3rd inning).

Was it legal for them to simply skip their turn at bat? I have never seen this before.

ahhh. nope you can't just skip 1/2 innings. Sounds like MSU rule book . {Making Stuff Up} rule book.

This was a slow pitch thing. If a visiting team was up by run rule before it reached a certain inning, the home team would bat again. Called flip flop rule or something. Think it was USSSA. It was done to try to keep games moving. Never seen it in fastpitch.

Yes, I am familiar with the flip-flop concept, and have seen that done many times. It's a time-saver. But this was different. The team didn't flip the inning, they literally skipped their turn at bat. This was different, and I have never seen it done before.
