Both slap hits. What swing is a homerun and why is it more powerful....

Left- Single
Right-HR

I see a few things making it more powerful;

* Connection of the upper and lower half is better on the right player; she reserved the hips better into contact.
* Player on the right is still getting off the backside at contact using more power from the left leg and hips
* Player on the right unhinged the wrist through the ball releasing the bat head and finishing the swing. The player on the left never unhinged (left hand never got in front to release the bat head through the ball)

I like this video because 2 different mechanics, 2 different results from it.

When you can see the things that make them different, it will make you a better hitter and instructor.

It also looks to me (maybe not the point(s) your trying to make) that the batter on video to left separates hands / releases her top hand on follow through...(deadens the swing)?

Left looks like catchers mitt is going towards outside pitch and batter went with it, right catcher looks going inside and batter turned on it. Nothing wrong with either.......

do you not relize that the Washington player is trying to position the ball with a half swing? She isn't trying to jack one. The other girl is trying to drive the ball deep. There are several types of hits they are trying to accomplish from the slap position. geez

These videos are an apple vs an orange. That is a backside slapper vs a pulling power slap. They're not trying to do the same thing. Ichiro and Bonds don't have the same stengths.
