This is the Facebook page that will be the social media backbone for the newly formed SMART (Softball Mask Awareness and Rules Team). For those of you who have NOT read any of the 135 replies to the "It's time to stop complaining and do something about it" post, by CoachJWB, you should know that a small group of fastpitch coaches and fans has just formalized an organization named SMART. Currently, this group has only a few goals:- To promote the wearing of face masks through education & awareness via various electronic means and social media outreach
- To encourage and lobby the regulating bodies to require face masks for certain positions to protect the athletes
Our first task was to come up with a group name, which after a good discussion, has been accomplished. Secondly we needed to get a GroupMe group established for quick small communications within the group. Third, we wanted a Facebook page to start promoting our beliefs. We plan on sharing stories, videos, pictures, etc of players with and without a mask.
We are reaching out to all of you for content. We want to keep the content fresh and relevant. If you have any pictures of bent masks, of un-injured smiling players (post line drive), or...the other content we seek has to do with players who did not wear a mask. We all have heard stories...now we are looking for a place to be a storing house for all of these stories. We encourage you to like and share our Facebook page and please share any relevant content with us. Comment on our posts. If you have any stories, links, etc., please share them on our page or send them to pleasewearamask@gmail.com.
We want to get the word out to the entire Fastpitch community.
