The Softball Mask Awareness and Rules Team (SMART) continues to make great strides in generating awareness of the importance of softball players wearing a face mask for protection. In the last few weeks we created the following:

• Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/pleasewearamask
• Website: www.pleasewearamask.com
• Twitter account: @pleasewearamask
• Instagram account: @pleasewearamask

All of these different media will be utilized to spread the word to players, parents, coaches, fans, and eventually the people who set the regulations. We will soon be establishing a GoFundMe account to enable donations to our cause. We don't anticipate needing much money, but banners, marketing, website expenses, etc will arise. Also, we are constantly on the lookout for player and/or coach testimonials, pictures of players or teams wearing their masks, stories about injuries that were prevented or stories about injuries that could possibly have been prevented. Folks...your daughters use Twitters, Instagram...some of them are on Facebook. We are looking for content. We have all seen the debates, heard the stories, seen the videos, and some have felt the pain.
Please help us spread the word and have your players follow our accounts and share it with their friends.

Chris (and Dan) ... great progress on the social media side of things. Given that awareness and education is our primary goal at least initially, these sites will be instrumental in getting the word out.

And by the way, while we call ourselves SMART, it's not to imply that we think of ourselves as smart ... it simply is an acronym for our team name. But we do think the young ladies who wear these masks, and the parents and coaches who support them in this are indeed smart.

You guys want to really raise awareness, get a hold of Emily Anderson. She used to pitch for Toledo. She is a huge advocate for wearing a mask.
