Just walked on our field and it is a mess. We have a brick infield. I sunk down about an inch. Outfield has standing water. Looks like a good week before we will be able to get on it to practice. Two weeks ago I over-seeded on Monday. On Tuesday we got 2 inches of rain. On Friday and Sauturday we got 15 inches of snow. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday snow melted. On Friday we got another inch of rain and on Saturday another 1/2 inch of rain. Does anyone esle have concers about their field?

Sinking in about 2 inches on mine, with snow and standing water on the infield, and toward the end of the season it will be harder than concrete, don't figure. ::)

no snow or standing water, but it is saturated.

it appears that the whole field sunk. the base pegs are up and the mound rose about 4 inches......dont ask me how or why.

Today, Monday, the girls were on our field, infield and outfield. ?Our field drains really well. ?But, another 3 days of rain on the way. ?Looks like everyone will be playing in hip waders.

Just saw the weather. They are saying 4 or 5 inches of rain over the next 48 hours. Our first scrimmage is scheduled at home on Monday. It will be interesting.

The 15 day forecast on Accuweather is not good. We have not got to play on the 3-31 in 5 years! 3-28 &-3-29 snow and rain forecast.

Does anyone know how much it would cost to convert a dirt infield into a limestone one? Has anyone done that - what grade of limestone do you use? We've played a couple of tournaments in Toledo on just such a surface (The fields are right along the Ohio Turnpike). I know they are awful for sliding in the summer but they can be played on in a hurricane. I'm going to suggest to our community that one field be converted so that the School teams have at least somewhere to play before May 15th .

What is a cubic and where can I find some Gopher wood :'(

I'm embarrassed to say I had to Wikipedia "gopher wood". ?:-[

For anybody else that didn't know what the flip it was, it is supposed to be what the Ark was made of (probably cypress wood).

*I learn something new on this site everyday, whether I want to, or not, lol.* ?;)

ccdteacher,..... ;D ;D ;D, you gave away your age on that one, I grew up listening to Cosby records. One whole side of the album "RIGHT" is dedictaed to the whole Noah's Ark shtick. However we may need an ark for our JV's to play, their field is still under a foot of water. We're going to have to issue them fish nets for gloves, boat oars for bats, wet suits for cold gear, and flippers for cleats.

"Have you looked under there!...who's going to that mess up"!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yeah Thunder, but your JV field is in a hole! How is your varsity field?
