In Central Ohio, our girls got outside today and got an inter-squad scrimmage completed. They looked like they were having fun.

I don't know about other HS coaches, but I would rather stay in a gym, as to venture outside for a day here or there. I have tried it in the past and feel as if we wasted our time. The girls are cold, it's wet and windy, and they just don't put forth a good enough effort to make it worth while. Time is better spent fine tuning things indoors, where you don't have all the elemental distractions.

Who has their fields covered with a tarp, and how much do you feel it has or does help on helping you get on your fields faster???

We were able to get outside today and go to Licking Valley. ?Their field was in perfect shape.

I forgot about the Cosby album. ?That was great album. ?On the other side he had a bit about the word "OOPS!" ?What do you think when you hear a surgeon go "OOPS"

When I talked about the Ark I was thinking more of an old Tennesse Ernie Ford song.

Lady Knight - I was happy on what I saw. Although it was a little chilly with the wind blowing, it sure beat the gym. Licking Valley's field was in great shape. Licking Valley has a lot of talent and we hang with then for several innings. We lost 4 starters from last years team so we moved a lot of kids around into positions that they have never played before. 4 of our players have never played softball before, it made for some memorable moments. EX. Had a new girl on first with no outs. Batter hit a ball to 2nd. Our player on 1st ran about 6 steps to 2nd, turned and ran 4 steps back to 1st, turned again and ran 2 steps back towards 2nd. Good thing was that it totally confused the defensive team. Girl who hit the ball made it to first while our lead runner was still trying to figure out where or what to do. They never did make a play on our lead runner. Our lead runner just kind of stopped and stood there. I may try that in a regular season game :) Never entered my mind that I would have to explain the basics of base running to the new girls. It is one of those moments that I will never forget.

The head coach has to take his state championship rings off before he is light enough to walk on water though ;D ;D ;D ;D

we still can't even get to our field yet due to snow piled up. I think we are going to put turf in the gym and play inside ;D
