Vienna, W.Va. – Asbury University junior Deana Phillips was chosen to the River States Conference (RSC) All-Conference First Team at the awards ceremony last evening in Vienna, W.Va., the site of this year's RSC Softball Championship Tournament.
2019 marks the second straight season that Phillips was chosen to the All-Conference First Team.
Phillips was selected to the team as a utility player, as she posted a career-high batting average this season of .414, which also ranked second overall in the River States Conference.
The Cross Plains, Tenn. native was the key catalyst of the AU offense this season as she tacked on a team-high and career-high 60 hits, 31 RBI, and 5 home runs. Phillips ranks in the top five of the conference in hits and RBI. She led the conference this season in doubles with 19.
Additionally, she finished the year with a slugging percentage of .642 and an on-base percentage of .412, which were also both team and career-highs.
In individual game-highs, Phillips also led the conference with 7 RBI and 11 total bases against Brescia.
Nationally, Phillips ranks No. 10 in the nation in doubles per game and is listed 13th nationally in total doubles on the season with 19.
