SANTEE, Calif. — Sophomore Kayla Mack hit three homers tallying seven RBI and the SDC pitching duo of Madison Bostick and Madelyn Jacobs paced the Hawks with the season-opening sweep against Saint Katherine.

The Hawks won Game 1 12-0 before winning 13-1 in Game 2.

SDC rallied off 14 hits in Game 1. Mack and Kaylyn Rubalcava both had three.

Bostick started off her Hawks career striking out the side in the first inning. She carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning before allowing two hits for her final line with six strikeouts.

Mack started the scoring off in the first inning with a bomb to right-center. In the third, she hit the exact same pitch in the exact same spot beyond the fence in right-center giving SDC a 4-0 lead. Rubalcava followed with an RBI single.

In the fourth, Mack delivered her biggest homer of the game, a 3-run shot to left field off an off-speed pitch. Elizabeth Wilson tallied an RBI triple, Rubalcava added an RBI single, and Jo Jo Nicolas capped all scoring with a single up the middle scoring Rubalcava.

Just like in Game 1, the Hawks scored two runs in Game 2 in the first inning. Tori Harris doubled down the left field line scoring Nicolas. Bailey Romano then hit a bases-loaded sac fly to right field, scoring Harris for the 2-0 lead.

The Firebirds got on the board for the first time in the second before two more runs for the Hawks in the third. SDC exploded for nine runs in the fourth, including a homer from the pitcher Jacobs to end the scoring in the fourth.

The Hawks will have a week off to celebrate before hosting La Sierra on Friday, Feb. 1.
