[Softball] Rio softball earns season-opening split

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The University of Rio Grande posted an extra inning win over Bluefield (Va.) College before falling to No. 5 Georgia Gwinnett College on Friday afternoon as part of the Grizzly Open at the Grizzly Softball Complex.
The RedStorm outlasted the Rams, 8-6 in eight innings, but lost to the host Grizzlies, 5-1.
The games represented the season-opening contests for Rio Grande, which was among the schools receiving votes in the preseason NAIA Top 25.
