St. Ambrose extended its winning streak to five following an 8-0 win Bemidji State and a 7-2 victory over the College of Saint Mary (Neb.) at the Ambrose Dome Saturday. The wins moved the Bees to 8-4 on the season.

Ella Specht was dominant in the opener, tossing a two-hit, six-inning shutout of Bemidji State. She struck out a pair and retired the final 10 batters she faced.

St. Ambrose picked up 12 hits, four coming off the bat of Olivia McClintock and three from Colleen Barrett. McClintock scored three runs while Barrett drove in three.

It was McClintock getting the scoring started, providing the only run Specht and the Bees would need. Leading off the bottom of the first, she doubled before moving to second on a sacrifice bunt from Logan Frerichs. One out later, Madelyn Thompson singled to plate McClintock.

Kaitlyn Sandora had an RBI in the second inning before SAU broke things open with a four-run fourth. Kayla Stenger and Frerichs had run-scoring hits before Barrett drove in two with a triple to right. Barrett picked up an RBI single in the sixth before Thompson ended the game with a sacrifice fly to plate McClintock with the team's eighth run.

St. Ambrose then turned around and defeated Saint Mary 7-2.

The Bees benefitted from three Flame errors to score a total of four unearned runs. The first two of those unearned runs came in the third with SAU trailing 1-0. With McClintock on second and Tara Lance on third, a throw from the CSM catcher bounced off Lance's helmet and rolled into right field allowing both runners to score. An inning later, St. Ambrose took advantage of another Saint Mary error as Stenger laced a two-out, two-run double to left-center to up the lead to 4-1.

Thompson picked up an RBI single in the fifth before Stenger had a two-run single in the sixth to account for the final SAU runs.

Erica Ralfs earned the victory after allowing two runs over five innings. Jane Thomas surrendered just one hit over two scoreless innings of relief.

Frerichs, Thompson and Lance each finished with two hits in the win.

The Bees will next head to Florida for their annual Spring Break trip beginning with games next Saturday.
