BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Alexis Smith uncorked a scoreless tie in the eighth inning and one of the best pitching staffs in the country teamed up to shut down Madonna University in the NAIA Softball Opening Round to earn a 1-0 win.
Smith delivered her team-leading 11thhome run of the season in the eighth inning and Morgan Gailor(17-6) was gutless in the circle holding Madonna scoreless over 7.1 innings.
