PRESCOTT, Ariz. — The Golden Eagles sent the SDC softball team home with a sour taste in their mouth as Embry-Riddle swept the Hawks in the DH on Wednesday.

The Golden Eagles won Game 1 13-5 and Game 2 7-2.

SDC scored in two innings in Game 1. Tori Harris singled home Emily Espino for their first run of the game. Bailey Romano then tallied a 2 RBI single to left field cutting their deficit to 7-3.

Trailing 8-3 in the fifth, the Hawks added two runs. Romano hit an RBI single to short scoring Harris from third. Nicole Whitney capped the scoring on the game for the Hawks with a double down the left field line.

The Golden Eagles added four runs in the bottom half of the inning and walked it off in fashion with a homer in the bottom of the sixth to get to the run-rule.

Romano led the team going 2-3 with 3 RBI. Harris was also 2-3 scoring twice with an RBI.

SDC was able to get on the board first in Game 2. Kayla Mack hit an RBI double to left center coring Nicole Whitney from third for the 1-0 lead.

ERAZ answered though with three runs in the bottom half of the inning as well as one in the third, two in the fourth and a run in the fifth before the Hawks could get back on the board.

In the sixth, Maritza Martinez drew a bases-loaded walk but the Hawks weren't able to do more damage with the bases loaded, stalling their comeback.

Neal led with two hits in Game 2. Three pitchers threw for SDC in the game. Neal allowed a run in one inning. Emily McMath gave up eight hits and four earned with Kalyn Rubalcava throwing two innings allowing just a run.

SDC has another challenge in front of them as they take on No. 8 Columbia College on Thursday.
