ATHENS, Tenn. – Two close decisions came in Tuesday's Appalachian Athletic Conference rivalry doubleheader as 23rd-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan University played host to Bryan College softball. After three scoreless innings in game one, Bryan was the first to strike. Unfortunately, it was the only run tallied by the Lions. The Bulldogs responded with just two runs, notching one in the fifth and another in the sixth, but the two scores were enough to secure the narrow 2-1 victory over Bryan. In game number two, Tennessee Wesleyan took their turn with the first runs on the board, as the home team posted a two-spot in the third. Bryan cut the deficit to one run with a score in the fifth, but that was all the Lions could produce before the Bulldogs scraped up an insurance run for the 3-1 final. Bryan fell to 9-13 in the AAC and 12-24 overall while Tennessee Wesleyan barely avoided the upset and improved to 19-3 in conference play and 22-4 overall.
