In a wet and windy week when only six non-California Pacific Conference doubleheaders were completed and nine scheduled contests were rained out, Simpson started off with a bang, coming from behind to beat No. 16 Corban in Redding, Calif. The Red Hawks, who received votes in the NAIA preseason poll, got a no-out bases-loaded grand slam by Madison Wright in the bottom of the 7th inning to lift SU to a 5-4 upset over the Warriors. Sydney Moorhead, last year's Cal Pac Pitcher of the year, pitched well in her first outing, tallying six strikeouts in the victory. In game two, Corban turned the tables, coming from behind in the 6th inning scoring three runs that gave them the lead and the win. Courtney Clevenger went 2-for-3 with two big RBI to give SU the lead in the 5th, but the Warriors rallied for three runs with the help of a couple of walks and an SU error to give them a lead that they would not relinquish. Chardae Hoskins pitched all seven innings--none of the runs she allowed inn the 4-3 loss were earned.
