Doane Softball played a pair of games on Saturday, splitting a triangular as they lost to Baker (Kan.), 6-4, before defeating Friends (Kan.), 5-3. The games took place at Friends' Two Rivers Complex in Wichita.

In the first game, Doane jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the Top of the 4th. A lead-off walk to open the game to Jade Hill (FR/San Diego, Calif.) resulted in a run when Kailyn Wiseman (JR/Sutton, Neb.) doubled with one out. In the 4th, Haley Kennedy (JR/Lincoln, Neb.) singled to plate Mikenzi Wiseman (SR/North Platte, Neb.). On the play, Ashley Meyer (SR/Temecula, Calif.) scored on a throwing error.

In the bottom of the 4th, Baker rallied with three runs to tie the game. A two-run home run by Hannah Flynn tied the game. The Wildcats added a run in the 5th and two in the 6th to take a 6-3 lead heading into the final inning.

In the 7th, Kailyn Wiseman doubled for the second time in the game to plate Hill, leaving the Tigers with two runners in scoring position with one out. However, Baker was able to escape the danger and record the final two outs without the TIgers plating another run.

Station Charters (FR/Severance, Colo.) took the loss, throwing 6.0 innings and allowing six runs on eight hits with three strikeouts. Kailyn Wiseman was 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBI while Mikenzi Wiseman added two hits.

In the final game of the day, Doane again jumped out early as they scored twice in the 3rd inning. Kailyn Wiseman singled to plate two runs as Erika Herrera (SR/Corona, Calif.) and Kennedy scored. Friends plated two runs in the bottom of the 5th to tie the game but Doane answered quickly with two runs in the 6th. Herrera delivered a two-out, two-run single to plate Mikenzi Wiseman and Tayler Mashburn (SR/Centennial. Colo.).

In the final inning, Doane added a run on a Kailyn Wiseman single to plate Hill. Friends scored a run in the bottom of the 7th only to leave the tying run on base.

Josie Schnakenberg (JR/Wahoo, Neb.) threw 7.0 innings, striking out a career-high 11 batters. She allowed three runs on eight hits. Kailyn Wiseman finished with two hits and three runs batted in while Herrera had two hits and two RBI.

Doane's next game is Tuesday, March 3, when the Tigers host Tabor College at 1 PM.
