GAINESVILLE, Ga. – Montreat softball struggled to find runs Sunday afternoon as the Cavs were held to just six hits in a doubleheader Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup against (RV) Brenau University. The Tigers swept the series (3-0, 10-3) to put Montreat at 10-10 in the AAC, 19-21 overall.

"We've got to be smarter on the bases and in the field, and make the plays they give us," said head coach Heather Maston. "We're making progress, but we've got to keep pushing."

Montreat's lone hit in game one came from Destiny Munoz who singled to right in the top of the first. The squad would muster up five hits over the course of game two.

Graclyn Green got the Cavs on the board in game two with a leadoff solo homerun in the top of the second, and later in the inning Mikki Shelton tripled to deep right-center to drive in Vanessa Bartkewicz and Tori Hill for a 3-1 lead.

Brenau would scatter nine runs over the fourth and fifth inning to take the game and the series.

Aly Woody and Marissa Romeo joined Green, Shelton, and Bartkewicz as Montreat's hitters in game two.

Up Next: The Cavs will look to bounce back Tuesday when they travel to AAC rival Milligan College for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
