SANTEE, Calif. — The SDC softball was able to grab their second sweep of the season on Tuesday as they defeated Westminster 5-2 in Game 1 and 5-4 in Game 2.


The win improves the Hawks to 9-16 overall.


Haley Curradi got things going in the third inning of Game 1 with a 2 RBI double to center field as she scored Bailey Romano and Tori Harris.


The Blue Jays answered in the top of the inning after with two runs of their own.


Montana Potts broke the tie with a single to center field, scoring Kaylyn Rubalcava. Potts was later brought home after Joselle Nicolas singled to center scoring her and Harris.


Potts, Harris, and Nicolas all had two hits. Madelyn Jacobs earned the win allowing four hits and two runs while striking out four.


Game 2 didn't start off all that well for the Hawks. Starter Noemi Farfan gave up four runs in the first inning. But to her credit, she didn't allow anymore the rest of the game.


In the third, Nicolas reached on a fielder's choice that scored Potts from third for the first run of the game for SDC. Rubalcava singled to right field scoring Nicolas and Elizabeth Wilson tied the game with a double to left field to tie the game.


Nicolas singled home the eventual game-winning run in the fourth inning. Her single scored Tori Harris for the 5-4 lead.


Farfan earned the win after she allowed nine hits with the four runs, only three of them were earned.


With rain in the forecast up in Northern California, the Hawks will now play William Jessup on Thursday at 5 and 7 p.m. They were originally scheduled to play the Warriors on Saturday. After the DH on Thursday, SDC will take on Menlo on Friday.
