[Softball] Top-Ranked Truett Outlasts Bryan

CLEVELAND, Ga. – The overall record for the Bryan College softball team slipped to 5-15, and their record in Appalachian Athletic Conference play fell to 2-4 when the Lions met up with the 17th-ranked Truett McConnell University Bears on Saturday in doubleheader action. The pair of wins for Truett marked their third straight sweep of an AAC opponent, lifting them to 19-5 overall and 6-0 in the conference while extending their winning streak to seven games. Bryan struggled to connect off Truett's pitching in game one, as the Lions posted only two hits coming from the duo of Heidi Smith (JR/Cookeville, Tenn.) and Austyn Durham (FR/Great Neck, N.Y.). The Bears rattled off 12 hits en route to their eight runs, highlighted by a five-spot in the bottom of the fifth for the 8-2 decision. Bryan made some adjustments entering game two and were able to deliver six hits compared to Truett's 10, but the home team rallied late for the low scoring 4-1 victory.
