NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (29-15-1, 15-9 Great Midwest) secured the fifth seed at the 2018 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Softball Championships.

The championships are May 3-5 at the Athletes In Action (AIA) Complex in Xenia, Ohio. Trevecca, the fifth seed, faces the fourth-seeded Hillsdale College Chargers (20-14, 14-8 Great Midwest) in game one of the championships at 9 AM on Thursday, May 3rd.
Hillsdale, new to the Great Midwest this year, owns a six-game win streak this year and finished with four straight wins to edge the Trojans for the fourth seed. The Chargers were victorious in 10 of their last 13 games. They were 10-11 with a 4-5 conference mark before closing out the season winning 10 of their last 13, all of those in conference.
The doubleheader between Trevecca and Hillsdale earlier this season was the season opener for both teams.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES: Hillsdale leads the all-time series 1-3, with the teams splitting their meetings this season. Trevecca won the first game of a March 24th doubleheader 5-0. The Chargers returned the favor with a 3-0 win in the bookend game.
Trevecca is the dominant team offensively heading into the postseason. The four-time Great Midwest Champion leads the conference in batting average (.355), slugging percentage (.506), on-base percentage (.419), runs scored (306), hits (442), RBI (268), home runs (34), total bases (631), hit-by-pitch (32), and SAC bunts (48).
In the circle, the Trojans also rank high among the 13 Great Midwest teams. Trevecca is second in lowest opponents batting average (.252), third in wins (29), third in strikeouts (198), 4th in hits allowed (283), fourth in runs allowed (158), fourth in doubles allowed (45), and fourth in triples allowed (7).
Nationally, Trevecca is 14th in batting average, 21st in scoring, 25th in on-base percentage, and 26th in slugging percentage.
MaKray Odom is 37th nationally in batting average. Danielle Horton is sixth in SAC hits per game. Mary Collins is 31st in SAC flies. Savannah Carr is 38th in ERA and 65th in hits allowed per seven innings.
Among active career leaders on the NCAA Division II level, MaKray Odom has the 23rd best batting average, Morgan Powell is 31st in career saves, and Savannah Carr has the 50th best ERA.
