BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Softball returned to Appalachian Athletic Conference play Wednesday when the Cavs traveled to Union College to face the Bulldogs. Ashlyn Vickers went yard in game one, but the squad fell 4-2 before dropping game two 8-0. The Cavaliers dropped to 2-2 in the conference (11-13 overall) while Union improved to 6-0 (16-9 overall).

Game One: Union 4, Montreat 2
Down 1-0 in the second inning with two outs, Aly Woody singled to right to drive in Cailin Warner, tie the game, and load the bases. The Cavs unfortunately couldn't take advantage of that as they stranded all three runners in the inning.

Union retook the lead in the bottom of the second, but Ashlyn Vickers' solo blast over left in the fifth would tie things up again. The Bulldogs then drove in a pair of runs in the bottom of the same inning to secure the game one victory.

Warner went the distance on the mound giving up only six hits, three earned runs, two walks, and fanning six Union batters. She also finished 1-for-2 at the plate.

Liana Elliot and Abby Swilley rounded out the Cavalier hitters in game one.

Game Two: Union 8, Montreat 0
Montreat was held to three hits in game two, but only committed one error in the shutout loss.

Elliot and Swilley each picked up another hit alongside Mikki Shelton with her first hit of the day.

Charlie Smith toughed it out for a complete game on the mound with a pair of strikeouts on the day.

Up Next: The Cavs host a pair of AAC teams this weekend with Point visiting on Saturday before St. Andrews stops by on Sunday. Both doubleheaders start at 2 p.m. and will be played at Big League Camp in Marion, NC.
