Final was Lasers Green and Grand Slam. Lasers won 3-2 in 9 innings.

It was 0-0 through 7 innings. In the first ITB they each scored 2. In the 2nd ITB Lasers scored 1 and Grand Slam did not.

Wow. That's a fantastic ending. Having seen most of those teams up there, that same score and final game could have happened with a multitude of team combinations. Well, some days you are the windshield and some days you the are bug.
Congrats to Lee & the entire Lasers team. They looked very good this past weekend.
Congrats also to Grand Slam for surviving Murderer's Row (that B pool), emerging & surviving through this tourney as a 3 seed from their pool. Well played, girls.
Lots of great ball playing this weekend.

OK....now it's time to get over to the Umpire Forum to read up on all of the rules questions being posted for Bretman on situations which occurred this past weekend.

I am sure they will have no answers for you. It is just like In the games the umps makeup their own set of rules. I twice last year called the umps out on rules they did not know. I even pulled out the rules book and showed it to them. what did I get was nothing . I was told the book was wrong and if i questioned them again they would toss me.

Congrats to both Lasers Green and Grand Slam! On a side note, it seemed a little odd that of the final 8 teams 4 were from pool B and 4 were from pool D.

Did you see the pools?!? All the older, tougher teams were in pools together which made for some awesome pool play games but it also made for some brutal first round elimination games. My little nugget's team, Ohio Ice Red, are all 11 year olds. They did very well in pool play going undefeated and winning 7-0, 11-0, and 11-1 and being seeded 2nd. Their first elimination game they drew the Grand Slam who was seeded 3rd. They hung with them most of the game but ended up losing 3-0. There aren't very many tournaments where teams of that caliber are seeded 3rd........

Amen it was tough! We ended up getting knocked out by mi outlaws right before the semi's by a close game! I felt better when I saw Mi outlaws play the lasers 0-1 because Lasers are a tough team!! watched the last game very exciting. Whats most exciting is that if you watched some of the games there are several teams in the mix not one dominating team! Will make for an interesting year!!!

Julie, Ice Red went 3-0 in pool play, only coughed up one run & wound up the 2 seed? I know that Storm '02 was the 1 seed from that pool...what did they do, 3 shutouts? Had to be. Man alive...very nice pool play performance, Ice Red (and Storm '02).

You are spot on about Grand Slam...to be the 3 seed as good as that team is....pretty impressive. They came from the toughest pool.

Visit the Spano Dome website and they have the pool play scores (most of them) and bracket play. They usually complete the brackets after the tournament.

It's up there!
http://www.spanodome.com/12u Bracket 2014.pdf

The Michigan Outlaws team improved a LOT since last year. I remember my team playing them last year in our first bracket game. They didn't have a 2nd bracket game and we certainly were not a great team. They have improved tremendously! They beat the Outlaws, and that isn't an easy task.
Don't look at the seedings & think that the (Ohio) Outlaws team is mediocre because they were "only" the 4th seed from their pool That B pool was SICK! As previously noted, 4 of the top 8 were from that pool (Grand Slam, Storm '01, Stingrays '01, & Outlaws.) The top 4 seeds from that pool should play deep on Sundays all summer long.

It was good talking to you at the Dome.
As always great teams and good games. I expect we will see each other again. Always nice to put a face to a name.
